Hope and Horizon Units are our child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in-patient facilities, situated within Fairfield Hospital in Bury.
We provide treatment and support to young people, aged between 13 and 18 years old, from anywhere in the UK, suffering from a range of mental health difficulties.
Both units are led by an expert team of healthcare professionals comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, dieticians and teachers.
The units have been designed with these young people in mind and have been extensively refurbished to ensure that they are of the highest standard, so young people receive expert care and treatment in a safe, therapeutic environment.
Young people have created some advice about what life is like on Hope and Horizon.

The Woodland Retreat provides a unique place for young people to relax and learn, as part of the team’s therapeutic approach.
Set in the natural woodland next to the Hope and Horizon Units, the Woodland Retreat was the first of its kind in the UK – a 40 metre wooden treehouse, complete with decked area, barbeque and allotment.
The lodge can be used as an extension of our on-site educational facilities. Here the young people can learn about the natural environment, take in some fresh air, and enjoy the tranquillity of this outside space.
Providing a peaceful space away from the normal clinical setting aims to enhance the treatment and personal experience of the young people by helping to reduce stress and tension.
