In 2016 we introduced the name Healthy Young Minds for all our children and young people mental health services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop.
Over the past five years we are aware that our name, Healthy Young Minds, has caused some confusion for families, children and young people who use our services - as well as professionals.
There have been misunderstandings about what our services provide, and sometimes the acronym HYMs and CAMHS are used at the same time, which can cause confusion.
We conducted some research with young people, families and staff and they told us that CAMHS is a more comfortable, familiar description for everyone.
We are therefore planning to stop using the Healthy Young Minds name and instead use CAMHS (children and adolescent mental health services) across all our services.
We are working on a new CAMHS design which will appear across our signage, materials and digital channels, including a new CAMHS website.
We expect the name change to take place early to mid-October 2021.
Once we have agreed the date of the name change we will share it with you, and we will also share links to our new website so you can update any information you currently have.
