One of our community mental health nurses features in a new NHS film, which thanks mental health nurses and encourages more people into these key roles.
Clare Manley, who retrained and qualified six months ago, is based with our community team in Stockport; in the film she talks about what inspired her to become a mental health nurse and what she loves most about her job.
Clare said: “I am so proud to be part of this film representing mental health nurses. I feel privileged to be able to walk alongside people on their journey to recovery, seeing hope and inspiring people to take a step forward.”
The film was produced by Speakers Collective, a group of mental health advocates and campaigners, with NHS England and NHS Improvement, and Health Education England, to recognise the vital role played by mental health nurses who provide “hope and compassion”. The advocates and campaigners who make up the Speaker Collective draw on their own personal experience of mental health crises and issues to highlight the compassion, support and dedication of NHS mental health nurses.
Ruth May, Chief Nursing Officer for England, said: "This film takes a very personal, insightful look at the real difference that mental health nursing makes for so many people. It takes a pretty unique skill set and special type of person to work in mental health nursing - I hope this film can help us raise awareness of the opportunities a career here can offer."
