Home Intensive Treatment Service (HITS)

We are a community-based specialist mental health team for older people, which provides a safe and effective alternative to inpatient treatment and supports early discharges from the ward.

We provide a range of assessments and interventions which are sensitive to your needs, and aim to treat you with the minimum disruption to your lives. Often we try to support you in your own home.
 

We provide an alternative to hospital admission by:

• Being the gate keeper for hospital admissions during operational hours to support early/ timely discharge from the ward.
• Providing a rapid response to a mental health crisis
• Providing short term support and treatment in the most appropriate environment
• Supporting you to be safely discharged from tan older people's ward and back to your home environment, as quickly as possible
